Anthony & Ashley Morris "Pay it Forward" Scholarship

This is a scholarship for any Business or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) majors. Applicants must have declared a Business or STEM major, have a minimum 3.0, show leadership ability, and have no other scholarships. To apply, fill out the application below and include a one-page essay of how you plan to “pay it forward” either in the present or in the future.

FirePro Trent & Staci Curtis Scholarship

This scholarship is for full-time students who own a business, in the process of starting a business, or enrolled in the entrepreneurship class/lecture series. Preference is given to married students who are currently working their way through school. Business plan required to apply.

Terrel H Bell Education Scholarship

All applicants must be classified as a “Resident” of Utah. Any student who has successfully completed at least 30 Dixie State University credits is eligible to apply. This scholarship can only be awarded to students who declare intent to complete the prescribed course of instruction required for a teaching certificate.

Orton-Gubler Teacher Education Scholarship

Established to honor a long time Washington County educator and his wife, the Rulon D Orton and LaPrele Gubler Orton Education Scholarship awards $1000 scholarships to elementary education majors. Candidates must be DSU students in good standing with a 3.0 GPA and accepted into the Elementary Education Program prior to making application. Students must have “Financial Need” as determined by FAFSA. A short essay must be submitted with your application, applications submitted without an essay will not be considered. Preference is given to Non-Traditional students, and those seeking an Elementary Education – Arts endorsement. Applicants will be considered for additional awards each year they meet the qualifications.

Orton-Gubler Education Paraprofessional Scholarship

AmeriCorps Service

Upon successful completion of a term of service, members are eligible to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. These awards range from $1,000 to $4,000, which may be used to pay current college costs or to repay student loans.

Gregerson English Scholarship

The Gregerson Scholarship awards $350 to an English Major with a 3.65 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to students who are engaged in the department or discipline beyond coursework.

Bamberger Nursing Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to full-time, undergraduate nursing students with financial need. Applicants must complete a FAFSA application to be considered. Recipients will be selected by the Nursing Department.

DSU-Intermountain Health Care Nursing Diversity Scholarship

The Intermountain Healthcare St George Regional Medical Center – Dixie State University Nursing Diversity Scholarship supports the mission and core values of both organizations by encouraging a diverse workforce, which will be more responsive to the varied cultural/ethnic beliefs and practices of patients and their families.

The scholarship will be awarded to students of diversity in ethnicity accepted into or currently enrolled in any of the DSU Nursing Programs who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Ethnic diversity is defined according to categories currently used by DSU: Asian, Hispanic, Black, Native American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or 2 or more races. Additional points may be given to applicants with bilingual skills and foreign language fluency. Intent to work as a registered nurse in Utah is strongly preferred, although not required for the scholarship.

Each applicant will submit a brief personal statement describing his or her ethnic diversity. Intermountain Healthcare and Dixie State University will invite the successful applicant(s) to join in our outreach efforts to diverse communities a few times during the calendar year.

Applicants must be a US Citizen or an eligible non-citizen with valid evidence of permanent residency in the United States.

National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing

National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing has two scholarships available.  You must be a member of a local, state, or national student nurse association. The application forms & all criteria can be found at National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing.

Utah Nurses Foundation Nursing Grant-in-Aid

Provides scholarships to Utah Residents who are interested in working on a nursing degree. Recipients must agree to join the Utah Nurses Association within 6 months of graduation. Ruth S Clayton Memorial Nursing Scholarship

A grant program providing financial assistance to women graduates from Utah high schools to attend schools located in the state of Utah. Must study nursing with the goal of attending an R.N. or R.N./B.S.N. Program. Applicants must need financial assistance in order to continue their education, have high academic achievement, extra-curricular and/or community involvement and established nursing career goals. Priority will be given to women whose intention is to work as nurses in the state of Utah for at least two years following their graduation.

Indian Health Services Scholarship (IHS)

The Tylenol Scholarship is for students pursuing careers in healthcare, life sciences or a related field. This year they will award $250,000 in scholarships based on leadership qualities and academic performance, including ten $10,000 and thirty $5,000 grants. More information…

Wanda & Dale Barton Mathematics Scholarship

This is a scholarship for full time students with strong moral character & integrity. Students must be entering their Junior or Senior year with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants must be a declared Mathematics Major or Math & Computational Mathematics Major with an emphasis in Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or Scientific Computing, who has successfully completed Multivariable Calculus (MATH 2210).

Dixie Sun Journalism Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who work on the Dixie Sun News staff as editors, writers, reporters, designers and photographers, creating content for print, broadcast and online media. Scholarship amounts vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. Freshmen through seniors are welcome to apply. Some positions do open throughout the year.

These scholarships are awarded to students who work at KXDS 91.3, the Dixie State University radio station. Scholarship amounts vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. Freshmen through seniors are welcome to apply.

CEC TV Sports Production Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who work in local sports broadcast functions for the Community Education Channel. Scholarship amounts may vary by position. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA and maintain a 12-credit course load each semester. These scholarships require up to 18 hours of work a week outside of class and require registering for courses. All students regardless of class standing and major are welcome to apply. However, experience in non-linear video editing and other aspects of television production is preferred. Application is available below:

STEM Scholarships

INSPIRE Scholarship

The INSPIRE Scholarship is designed to support STEM majors that are Pell eligible. This scholarship will cover unmet financial need for students (on average $4800/year) for two full years (total average award of $9600). Participants will need attend weekly study hall, meet regularly with an assigned mentor, and participate in multi-semester research and prototyping course series called the Innovative Solutions Course series. This course series will consist of three 1-credit lab-based courses. This courses series will immerse students in a multidisciplinary research project, training them for future careers that increasingly require interdisciplinary collaboration. Within the course, students will form interdisciplinary teams of different STEM disciplines, and be trained in research methods, modern prototyping techniques, and technology startup fundamentals. Students will solve modern real-world interdisciplinary challenges within the courses, and students can advance their solutions through either scholarly research or entrepreneurship at the completion of the program. These courses will run the first three semesters of the program, and meet on Friday’s from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. To be eligible, you must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA, be Pell eligible, and have at least two years of school before graduation.
